Salvation is Not Inherited
October, 2026
My name is J.S. As I grew up in Bhutan, I learned about God and considered myself a Christian, because I was born in a Christian family. I mistakenly thought that family guaranteed my salvation and my place in heaven. I took pride in my background, but did not yet understand my personal need for a relationship with Jesus Christ.
By God’s grace, I had the opportunity to attend Bible school in 2006. During that time, the Holy Spirit convicted me through the Word of God, and I came to understand my sinful condition and my personal need for Christ. I repented of my sins, accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior, and surrendered my life to Him. That same year, I was baptized as a public expression of my faith in Christ.
After accepting Christ, my life began to change. I developed a desire to pray, study God’s Word, fellowship with other believers, and know Christ more deeply. God began to transform my thinking, attitudes, character, and priorities. I learned to trust Him and depend on Him in every area of my life.
I continued to grow in Christ and developed a deep desire to serve the Lord. In 2011, I received further Bible and leadership training. Through this experience, God strengthened my calling, and I surrendered my life to full-time ministry.
In 2014, a new fellowship was started in my native town, and at first, only my wife and I were members. Although I had not yet been ordained as a pastor, God continued to bring more people to the fellowship, and the ministry gradually grew. In 2023, I was ordained as a pastor. By that time, more than 30 people were already part of the fellowship. Looking back, I can clearly see God’s faithfulness and leading throughout this journey.
My wife and I are happily and joyfully serving the Lord by His grace. God has also blessed us with two children: an eldest daughter who is 10 years old, and our son, who is 5 years old. My family has been a great support to me throughout the ministry.
God has brought us through many difficult situations, challenges, and times of uncertainty. There have been many tears and struggles along the way, but through every situation, God has remained faithful and carried us.
Today, I continue to serve the Lord in full-time ministry as a pastor, with a particular burden for investing in young people and helping them grow in their relationship with Christ. We also do sports ministry as an opportunity to connect with young people, build relationships, and share the love of Christ.
I am still learning and growing in the Lord, and I am currently attending Acts training. After I complete my training, I am praying to be accepted as a future Acts training director, so that I can raise up new generations of church planters. I am deeply thankful for God's grace, His transforming work in my life, and the privilege of serving Him. My journey reminds me that being born into a Christian family is not what saves us. Each of us needs to personally repent, believe in Jesus Christ, and surrender our lives to Him.
All glory, honor, and praise belong to God.
