From Hindu Priest to Christian Evangelist
April 2026
Please, you may call me NB. I was born into a strong Hindu family of the Magar people group, one of the original tribes of Nepal. I had no aim, purpose, or plan for the future in my life. For me, nobody mentored, instructed, or provided guidance, so I went to school and became a teacher. Unsatisfied, I then became a businessman. Later I worked in politics with the Maoist communist party. After that, I became a local village political leader and then an orange farmer. At last, I became a priest of Bhagawati Devi (a Hindu goddess).
When I became a priest of Bhagawati Devi, my life was full of worldly enjoyment. I became a drunkard, a smoker, and a gambler, playing cards all day. Doing these activities brought me to bankruptcy and made me a debtor of many bad people. I lost my orange farming business and wandered here and there like a madman. My life was damaged with no hope at all of repair or of escaping debt. I had no peace at all.
So, one day I decide to die by drinking rat poison. I tried repeatedly, but I could not drink the poison. As the day was passing, two men of God came to my home and preached the gospel to me. When I heard the word of God on that day, the message of Jesus Christ really brought peace to my heart. I accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior. Simultaneously, all my family came to faith in Christ. Years later I became a church leader. And now I wanted to learn more about God's word and how to serve the Lord better. I heard about Acts training through a respected pastor in my area, and I applied to attend the training center.
The training was excellent. While training, I received a vision from God to do His ministry. Because of God’s encouragement and Acts training, I was able to start three small fellowships before graduation. I shared the Gospel by giving out gospel tracts and using person-to-person evangelism through walking many kilometers and many days to visit multiple villages surrounding my home. One fellowship takes me three hours by walking to reach. Now, there are 60 believers between these three fellowships, and 35 of them have taken baptism.
I thank God for the wonderful training Acts has provided for me and all of the other graduates.
